About Us

Morningside Montessori School is a pre-school for children ages 2 through 5 years incorporated in 1970 under the laws of the New York State Department of Education.

The school is licensed by the New York City Board of Health and affiliated with the American Montessori Society.

Morningside Montessori was founded in 1966 as a parents’ cooperative by ten Upper West Side families. Originally consisting of 19 students and one full-time teacher, our school now has ninety five students, twelve teachers, a full-time Director and a wide range of scheduling options. The school is guided by a parent-elected and run board of trustees.
