Alumni & Exmissions

Negotiating on-going schools is a daunting process in New York City.  We have a well established plan of guidance available to our families as they determine the best elementary school for their child.  We begin our work with families 18 months before kindergarten entry.  This involves several personalized meetings with Administration, weekly email updates on all news relevant to applying to schools and connecting with other families who have recently gone through the ex-missions process.

Our Alumni go on to attend some of the most prestigious private schools, Hunter College Elementary, City-Wide and District Gifted and Talented programs in the city.

In the past two years, our students have been accepted at:

Exmissions Testimonials

"Since we knew we were sending our children to public schools, we thought that ex-missions wouldn’t be an important part of our preschool experience. Wrong! When we were confronted with the array of choices, lotteries and ever-shifting rules for public schools we realized how lucky we were to have a preschool director with such a vast knowledge  – both of the process and the individual schools themselves. The Director's mission is to make sure that every Morningside family finds a placement that works well for their child – regardless of whether they are looking at independent or public schools. In the case of the latter, that can mean working with families throughout the summer, and even into the Kindergarten year. When our child graduated from MMS, tMorningside  didn't just write us off as “all set.” The Director continued to be our partner in the ongoing school process and provide us with expertise and advice." - Anonymous

"Our son attended MMS as a toddler through to Pre-K, graduating in June 2013.  He had a wonderful three years, enjoying all the benefits that an MMS education has to offer.  As new parents to the New York private and public school systems, we found the ex-missions guidance provided by the Director  to be invaluable.  The Director takes the time to really get to know each child, and helped us identify the schools that our son would be best suited for. The Director then did a great job of preparing us for the interview process and reaching out to the Admissions Directors at our target schools. Our son was accepted at the Dalton school, where he started Kindergarten in September 2013." - Colin Palombo

"MMS's  Director  was a wonderful resource, guide, and champion as we navigated the ex-missions process for our daughter.  Every step of the way, we felt incredibly supported.  The Director  knows each MMS child as an individual.  The Director is deeply knowledgeable about the full range of school options in the city, both private and public, and  works hard to find the best fit for each child.  We felt that our daughter's ex-missions process was in expert hands." - Suzanne Kim & Doug Yatter

"Throughout the admissions process the Director listened carefully to what was important to us, gave great advice and honest feedback and was always available to talk with us. The size of MMS allows the Director to get to know all of the children and their families well; as a result, we had very productive conversations about which schools might be the best fit for our child and worked on a roadmap for the private school admissions process. Once we got the opportunity to learn more about each school it was clear that Morningside's assessments were right on the mark. Most importantly though, the Director's  leadership of MMS cultivated a school that instilled a love of learning in our child that allowed her to confidently go through the many admissions visits and seamlessly transition to kindergarten -- for that we will always be so thankful to Morningside!" - Anonymous

"Going through the exmissions process highlighted what we find to be truly special about MMS which is how deeply the teachers and Administration "get" each child. This was clearly demonstrated in the thoughtful and detailed teacher reports and conferences throughout our MMS years and in our meetings with the Director about exmissions. The teachers' and the Director's  keen observations and insights were always spot on and even revelatory. It is a wonderful feeling knowing how well MMS knows and nurtures each child." - Anonymous
